  • Letter Xx Songs: Use a letter X-related song during circle time and transitions.
  • Letter Xx Poster: Post this poster on your Bulletin Board to introduce the letter Xx and the X-ray fish.
  • Tracing Letter Xx: Show the students how to position upper and lower case letter Xx within writing lines, to help your students understand the proportions and spaces of their letters.  Then, let your students trace lowercase and uppercase letters to complete the activities.
  • Finding the Letter X: Students search for the letter X in both its uppercase and lowercase forms.
  • ABC Mazes: Students will mark the letters in the correct alphabetical order.
  • Alphabet Matching and Puzzles: Students will match uppercase letter cards with their corresponding lowercase letter cards.
  • Rhyming Activities: Students will choose and circle the picture whose name rhymes with the first one.
  • Word Wall Cards (English and Spanish): Introduce students to these X-ray fish-related words at the beginning of the week and brainstorm more. Create a word wall. Print extra sets for games and centers.
  • X-ray Fish Pointers: Use them to mark the words in the storybooks to show your students that you read from top to bottom and left to right, and that words have meaning.  

Math Activities

  • Which is Different? Students will identify which X-ray fish is different in each row.

  • X-ray Fish Number Puzzles: Students will complete the puzzles following a number sequence.
  • Xray Fish Trace and Fill: Students will trace the dotted numbers and write the following number, counting as they go, from 0 to 25.
  • Count and Color Graph: Students will count the number of each type of x-ray fish found in the fishbowl and color the corresponding number of squares in the graph to represent it.  

Science Activities

This section offers ideas to foster children’s natural curiosity about fish through exploration, observation, and hands-on activities. These activities include learning to classify and compare objects, acquiring scientific facts about these fish, and encouraging children to ask questions, make predictions, and explore the world around them. It also includes the following hands-on activities:

  • X-ray Fish Picture: Use the picture to teach about X-ray fish.
  • X-ray Fish Facts: Use the facts provided to teach scientific information about X-ray fish.
  • X-ray Fish Vocabulary Words: Students will learn specific vocabulary words related to X-ray Fish.
  • X-ray Fish Body Parts: Students will learn the main body parts of an X-ray fish and then match these parts to the corresponding written descriptions or designated spaces.

Fine Motor Activities

  • X-ray Fish Lacing: Students will use a shoelace or string to lace the X-ray fish.
