• Letter Oo Poster: Post this poster on your Bulletin Board to introduce the letter Oo and the octopus.
• Tracing Letter Oo: Show students how to position the uppercase and lowercase letters Oo on writing lines to help them understand letter proportions and spacing.  Then, let your students trace lowercase and uppercase letters to complete the activities.
• Finding the Letter O: Students look for the letter O in its uppercase and lowercase versions.
• ABC Mazes: Students will mark the letters in the correct alphabetical order.
• Octopus Trace and Fill: Students will trace the dotted letters and write the following letter to complete the alphabet.
• Alphabet Matching and Puzzles: Students will match uppercase letter cards to lowercase letter cards.
• Rhyming Activities: Students will choose and circle the picture whose name rhymes with the first one.
• Word Wall Cards (English and Spanish): Introduce students to these octopus-related words at the beginning of the week and brainstorm more. Create a word wall. Print extra sets for games and centers.
• My Color Octopus Booklet: Students will identify the octopus’s color on each page and trace the color word to complete the phrase.
• Octopus Pointers: Use them to mark the words in the storybooks to show your students that you read from top to bottom and left to right, and that words have meaning.  

Math Activities

• Circle the Larger and Smaller Octopus: Students will recognize and circle the larger and smaller octopus in each row.
• Octopus Patterns: Students will use the provided tiles to copy, complete, and create different patterns.
• Order the Octopuses: Students will order the octopuses from largest to smallest and vice versa.
• Which is Different? Students will identify which octopus is different in each row.
• Octopus Counting: Students will use a variety of activities, such as counting items and marking or writing the number.
• Octopus Number Puzzles: Students will complete the puzzles following a number sequence.
• Octopus Math Game: Students will follow the provided instructions to play.
• Octopus Count and Graph: Students will count each octopus and color the corresponding square accordingly.
• Octopus Graphic Game: Students will use the provided dice to complete the graph.  

Science Activities 

This section offers ideas to foster children’s natural curiosity about octopuses through exploration, observation, and hands-on activities. These activities include learning to classify and compare objects, acquiring scientific facts about these mollusks, and encouraging children to ask questions, make predictions, and explore the world around them. It also includes the following hands-on activities:

• Octopus Pictures: Use the pictures to teach about octopuses.
• Octopus Facts: Use the facts provided to teach scientific information about octopuses.
• Octopus Vocabulary Words: Students will learn specific vocabulary words related to octopuses.
